Coaching
Thank you for your interest in coaching an SPSL Soccer team! The club is run by parents and other volunteers from the SPSL community. We believe that every kid who wants to play this great game should have an opportunity to do so. In addition to the time commitment involved in practices and games, there are some other requirements to keep in mind.
Before the season starts:
- The SPSL Soccer Club plays in the Catholic Youth Soccer League (CYSL), which is governed by the Nebraska State Soccer Association.
- The State Soccer Association requires that all new coaches complete a background check and complete SafeSport and concussion protocol certification. To begin the process, you must create an account on the Soccer Association site or login to your existing account if you already have one set up. You will need to update your certifications each school year if you continue coaching.
- In addition, the Omaha Archdiocese requires completion of Safe Environment training
Game requirements:
- All U12 and U14 teams are responsible for bringing 3 flags to every game. Bringing a net is also recommended in case the field does not have one set up.
- Coaches need to bring a printed team roster to each game.
- Coaches should fill out a post game report online, through your NE State Soccer Association login.
Concussion protocol:
- We follow the state guidelines on concussion protocol and all of our coaches must complete the online concussion course prior to the start of the season.
